A fresh new way to Worship
Who We Are!
Tigard Church of God offers a fresh new style of worship, "Worship ConXsion", on Sunday mornings. To our knowledge no other church formats their service in the same way. It’s as simple as 1-2-3; we enjoy 1 service, with 2 distinct music worship styles, that’s in 3 parts!
At TCOG, music plays a vital role in this special time; We also enjoy having people of all ages participate in this valuable time together. So our innovative worship style enables all folks of all ages to participate in joint worship while enjoying their own favorite worship style of music.
Children are important to the Lord and to us! Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14 NIV) Here at the Tigard Church of God we have been blessed with a NEW children’s ministry we call “Ignite!” During the school year, children from the ages of 4 years old through 5th grade meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm for a light meal. Then at 7:00 the evening begins with crafts, games, snacks and stories. Parents are welcome to join them for dinner and afterward participate in adult groups scheduled at the same time. Additional activities and events are offered throughout the year (Vacation Bible School, field trips, camps, etc.) Bring your child or call the office for our van to pick them up so they don’t miss this great opportunity.
Tigard Church of God recently started adult Small Groups for all ages, hosted in local area homes. More than likely there is a group meeting near you. We would love to include you in a study and growth small group. Each group is unique as they provide good eats, fellowship, study, and the opportunity to grow in their relationship with God and each other. For a complete schedule or to get involved, call the church office or ask one of our staff on Sunday morning. Sunday mornings at 9:00, you can also enjoy adult Sunday Morning Small Groups before “Worship ConXsion.” From September to June, we also often offer the choice of more than one small group with differing topics.
Tigard Church of God hosts various events thoughout the year, such as our annual "Community Thanksgiving Dinner," a Christmas musical, Christmas boxes for selected destitute families, and our annual Service on the Green in August, followed by a delicious barbecue... and others that enables us to reach out to our community with the message of God's love. Included with these we provided opportunities to help the homeless and others in need. If you wish to get involved, come and see what the Lord has for you!
Not only are Tuesday evenings for our Children’s Ignite ministry, but its focus is on our men too. Guys of all ages are welcome to join us at 7:00pm for support and fellowship though our Men’s Bible Study. Our intent to open the Word specifically for men, help them realize God's love for them, and discover strength for today as we talk, study, pray, and enjoy each other's company. During the year we also often provide BBQ's and other opportunities for fellowship. As a group of Godly men, we also seek for ways to serve the Lord by helping others who may have needs. Tigard Church of God also sponsors a Men's softball team June through August. It is our desire to help build Godly Men for Him! Come join us!
Our women enjoy getting together for special events throughout the year. An event can range from simple, fun occasions like the Movie Night we just had in June, to the more prominent event like “Stepping Out” which helped launch our new ministry last September. During both events we shared much laughter and good times. Women need one another! So we also plan get- togethers at various times during the year for encouragment, fellowship and support. All gals from late teens to senior adults are invited to join us any time for any of our get-togethers. They’re great times to enjoy old friends and to get acquainted with new ones!
Tigard Church of God has a heart for our senior adults, and desire to see them both minister and be ministered to in our Christian community. Many of our senior adults enjoy utilizing their wonderful talents and experience for the ongoing work of the kingdom! Our seniors also enjoy the annual COG Area seniors Picnic, and its annual Hymn Sing. They enjoy getting together with old friends from other churches, and celebrate the time together with delicious food and activities.
As time moves forward, we are also anticipating being able to continue moving forward, and enhancing this vital area of ministry to our valued seniors. Be watching for more information in the months ahead.
TCOG Student Ministries is a community of young people in the 6th-12th grades of Tigard and surrounding areas that exist for the purpose of providing a place of belonging and acceptance in the body of Christ. We believe in living a radical lifestyle for Christ in all that we do. Come check us out. We gather on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8pm. We enjoy food, games and Bible study. Also check back here from time to time for other events, such as, retreats, mission projects and other fun activities.
